Some of the news-information program sources I enjoy
  • NPR: National Public Radio is an internationally acclaimed producer and distributor of noncommercial news, talk, and entertainment programming.
  • MSNBC News: provides a wide variety of content you care about – like news, sports, weather, and stock quotes.
  • Democracy Now! is a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on over 225 stations in North America. Democracy Now!'s War and Peace Report provides our audience with access to people and perspectives rarely heard in the U.S. corporate-sponsored media.
  • Frontline. has served as American public television's - PBS - flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature over 20 seasons is reaffirmed each week.
  • CommonDreams: It's been said that dreams are our roadmaps to the future. If so, where are we headed? Common Dreams is a national non-profit citizens' organization working to bring progressive Americans together to promote progressive visions for America's future.
  • The Economist: The news and business publication written expressly for top business decision-makers and opinion leaders. Each issue explores the links between domestic and international issues, business, finance, current affairs, science, technology and the arts.
  • The New York Times: is online and searchable. One of the most authoritative sources of current news, it's scope is broad.
  • Time Magazine: Feature articles from well over four thousand issues of America's premier weekly news magazine are available online to those with current subscriptions to the printed editions.
  • OpEdNews.com: "OpEdNews runs news stories and sharply smart anti-war/anti-Bush opinion pieces"  Ed Wiener of the Philadelphia Daily News. "Something Like the Drudge Report, But Designed For People Who Think" - Mike Malloy

  • The Nation: The Nation will not be the organ of any party, sect, or body. It will, on the contrary, make an earnest effort to bring to the discussion of political and social questions a really critical spirit, and to wage war upon the vices of violence, exaggeration, and misrepresentation by which so much of the political writing of the day is marred.

  • Religion News Blog (RNB) is published by Apologetics Index. RNB is a religious news service, presented as a weblog that highlights and archives news items and other resources about cults, religious sects, alternative religions, Christian denominations, and related issues.
  • The Journal of Religion & Society promotes the study of religious groups and beliefs among the various peoples of the world, past and present, with emphasis on American religions and the Western religious traditions.

  • MoveOn is working to bring ordinary people back into politics. With a system that today revolves around big money and big media, most citizens are left out. MoveOn is a catalyst for a new kind of grassroots involvement, supporting busy but concerned citizens in finding their political voice. [Very critical of Bush administration.]
  • NOVA: If you missed these NOVA programs on PBS television, you can watch them here in their entirety, divided conveniently into chapters
  • People For The American Way is an energetic advocate for the values and institutions that sustain a diverse democratic society. Many of these are now threatened by the influence of the radical right and its allies who have risen to positions of political power. Our most fundamental rights and freedoms - and even our basic constitutional
    framework - are at risk.
