Greetings from Chengdu,

This Chinese city has the most wonderful collection of parks and public areas I've ever enjoyed. Tianfu Square near the center of the business section of the city is a delightful place to watch people and to study the history of the region posted on numerous pillars around the square.

Everyday from sun up to sun down exciting activities are created by the people themselves. Some of the public performances are quite professional, though for the most part it is only ordinary amateurs creating the music or dance. Peoples Park drew me into its heart several times during my several visits to the city as I visited other nearby attractions of Sichuan. Eventually I discovered Qintai Road with all its traditional buildings and decorations much beloved by Chengduians.

The entrance to the Chengdu Cultural Park sits at the end of Qintai Road. There, serene beauty mingles with lush plantings, historical monuments and sculptures, multiple Bonsai displays and areas intensively used by card players or clicking Mahjong game players.

Not far from the Minshan Hotel where I stayed during my second visit to the city is a lovely river walkway and further on the Wang Jiang Lou Park, a particularly good place to watch the river activity from high atop any one of a number of pagodas.

This page is presented to accommodate the massive overflow of photographs taken in and around Chengdu. Don't miss the main page. FB

Chengdu: People's Park activities provided many opportunities for photography. This is a corner of one larger picture; when enlarged I was amazed how many people were watching me from so far away.
