Hello from Taipei Taiwan, 

One of my business contacts here recommended the Friend's Hotel ($68) after both the Hilton and Sheraton were found to be fully booked. It is small and has no restaurant, but does produce a breakfast for guests. They also provide some unusual amenities: condoms and nylon stockings! The first full day I managed to visit the computer street near the hotel where I found lots of cheap CD's. The second day I visited the Palace Museum and lunched on KFC fried chicken.
