Istanbul - One of the overly friendly carpet sellers who invited me into his shop "just for a cup of tea." This particular guy did seem to have hospitality in mind, though he did casually drag out a few carpets to illustrate his presentations of Turkish history and culture.

Istanbul - Meet XXX YYY who operates one of the most prominent tourist organizations in the country.

No more photos for this visit.

Hello from Istanbul Turkey,

Peace

Fred L Bellomy

Istanbul - While discussing the promotion of tourism and the development of a CDROM production I met this guy who shared some of his knowledge of the city and introduced me to Turkey's most famous pastry, the Simit.

Istanbul - Poor photo of the Blue Mosque.

Istanbul - While discussing the promotion of tourism and the development of a CDROM production I met this guy who turned out to be very knowledgeable about his country and Istanbul in particular. He showed me around some of the more prominent tourist sites.

Istanbul - The Grand Bazaar is a very busy shopping complex. with hundreds of stalls and many blocks of inside market spaces, one can get lost.

Istanbul - While discussing the promotion of tourism one of my informants introduced me to Turkey's most famous pastry, the Simit, shown here in the background.

Istanbul - During my tour of the more prominent tourist areas of the city we walked this plaza full of vendors anxious to trade their trinkets for my money.

Minox-B "spy" camera I used while traveling during the last millennium. It is a beautiful piece of German technology and a pleasure to fondle. Unfortunately, the resolution of even snapshots is not very good. The chain/lanyard contains beads used for precisely measuring distance to secret documents the agent is trying to photograph!
