Greetings from
Cambodia Hello from
Phnom Penh Cambodia, gateway the the world
famous Anchor Wat archeological site. I started my trip to see Anchor Wat
from here and then returned to plan the onward journey... so
that is the reason for two sets of dates... and two
identical sets of photographs... though organized
differently in each set.
NEED TO
DIVIDE THE TOTAL OF 156 PICTURES INTO TWO UNIQUE GROUPS FOR
THE TWO SEPARATE POSTCARD PAGES.
The first of my three nights
in the city was spent in the $20 Le President Hotel, but the
next day I shifted over to the much better $30 Riverview
Hotel before catching the fast Express Hydrofoil boat up the
river to Siem Reap near Angkor Wat. Need to add more anecdotes (ie. Limbless
beggar hit me with his stub when I declined to give
him money. Great newly opened hotel with magnificent view
of the river. Snakes in the grass keep sensible people off
the grass. Visit to the prison where skulls and photos of
the executed were on display. King's birthday celebration
festivities... )
Peace
Fred L Bellomy

Phnom Penh again: Returning from Siem Reap I had several choices of
transportation: including a pickup truck like this one. Soft foreigners
often can bribe their way onto the seat next to the driver inside.
Phnom Penh again: Returning from Siem Reap I had several choices of
transportation: the bus I chose carried 37 passengers, occasionally had air
conditioning and good suspension. That is a good thing because the roads
during the first five hours were full of potholes; a very bumpy ride. The
seats were plenty wide for an infant; the rest of us needed a shoe horn to
squeeze into a seat with a partner. As usual, I bought two seats and only my
bag felt the cramped quarters. This is the first flat tire we had.

twice. At the first stop these guys watched the entire operation.

spiders... I kid you not.
