Greetings from
Cambodia Hello
again from Phnom Penh Cambodia, gateway the the world
famous Anchor Wat archeological site. I started my trip to see Anchor Wat
from here and then returned to plan my onward journey... so
that is the reason for two sets of dates. Getting back into
town so late I decided to again use the just barely adequate
Riverview Hotel again, but immediately started looking for
something better for the last night in Cambodia before
heading on down the river to Viet Nam. To my great good luck
I found the recently opened
luxury Amanjaya Hotel and with introductory rates of only
$70. Located directly across the street from the riverfront
park it offered panoramic views of everything. I would have
liked to have stayed longer, even at the budget busting $70
rate, but Viet Nam beckoned and the next day around noon I
headed down to the dock to catch my express boat for Chau
Doc. Naturally it didn't leave on time, but by 15:00 we were
bouncing around on the choppy river headed east for Viet
Nam.
MORE TO
WRITE FROM JOURNAL NOTES.
Peace,
Fred Bellomy
Note: I started my trip to

that is the reason for two sets of dates... and two
identical sets of photographs... though organized
differently in each set.

Phnom Penh again: Returning from Siem
Reap I had several choices of transportation: the bus I
chose carried 37 passengers, occasionally had air
conditioning and good suspension. That is a good thing
because the roads during the first five hours were full of
potholes; a very bumpy ride. The seats were plenty wide for
an infant; the rest of us needed a shoe horn to squeeze into
a seat with a partner. As usual, I bought two seats and only
my bag felt the cramped quarters. This is the first flat
tire we had.
Phnom Penh again: Returning from Siem Reap we stopped to fix
flat tires twice. At the first stop these guys watched the
entire operation.

Phnom Penh again: Returning from Siem Reap our last stop for a "happy hour"
dumped us in a crowd of food sellers offering fried frogs and here fried
spiders... I kid you not.

terminal. One of the fast express boats at the dock.
