Brief two night stop along the north-south rail line waiting to continue the trip north toward Bangkok with more stops at some interesting small town along the way. The train arrived at 21:00 leaving no daylight for hotel shopping, so I settled on the $28 Diamond Plaza Hotel. Surat Thani is a seaside resort town and Thai tourists visit here for a quick holiday from work.
